Hi all.
After giving myself some time to think, I will be retiring from Kodi addon development.
There will be one final update to Fen Light labelled version 2.0.01, likely tomorrow.
This update will not include any fixes for the RD issues. Anyone who insists on using RD will need to keep an eye on the scene and start using addons that provide a way to continue using it. There are a couple of fairly easy options open to devs to get RD working again in a satisfactory way.** EDIT: REAL DEBRID WILL ONCE AGAIN BE SUPPORTED IN THE FINAL RELEASE OF FEN LIGHT. **
The final release of Light will remove the update manager from it. Meaning it will no longer look to this github to get updates. This will allow me to safely delete this github account, which I will do 24 hours after the final release.
Anyone using Fen (not Light)....Uninstall the addon and use something else. If you don't uninstall it, then turn off the addon manager in the settings.
Fen Light will continue to work with API keys etc, but there is already a setting to provide your own.
There will be no coming back in 6 months like last time I left, so thank you to the users over the years who were able to be decent when asking for features or reporting issues.
Support new devs. Use a please and thank you with old devs. Give them some slack.
Damn. It made me sad reading this. Thank you for all the hard work you put into Fen. You're a top dev, and it's been a pleasure following the growth of your addon. I wish you all the best for the future.

Out of interest, what's the easy options you mentioned that could allow RD to be used?
I've been working on some small seren updates recently and I'm wondering how difficult a workaround would be to implement.
I'ma dope when the issue is beyond putting the dot before the com. So, when loading the correct URL into Kodi Omega (https://tikipeter github.io/packages) I receive a error message and cannot complete the configuring

I am begging you to reconsider, Fenlight may have been popular with RD but it is so much more than just RD and has many still working (and likely to continue to do so for a long time) alternatives already in it and we love the addon and the joy it’s been to use it. I know you said no thanks post and that part wasn’t, however if you stick with your decision, I will be very very sad but also grateful for your work and skills which I have appreciated a great deal and hope you reconsider.

It brought me joy to bring RD compatibility back for the pending final release of Fen Light.
The playback will be slower to start sometimes, but RD WILL WORK on the final version of Light.
It should keep Fen Light working and relevant for people who want to run it into the ground. Should work for at least a year.

Final release of Fen Light has been pushed. Thanks for the memories and so long. I'll give 2 days to update and download the zip, and then this github account will be closed.

It actually is. Fen light is a 500.01KB zip file.
Yeah I stand corrected, the thing zips up real tight. Guess a lot of that 4MB is text ;)
Of Mice and Men is 30,000 words so fenlight has to be more typed than that classic (excluding updates)
Sorry I have never downloaded an add on this way so I don’t know what to do. How do I put the zip file onto my FireStick and use it on Kodi?

I unfortunately just had a few minutes to check in on my room. Hopefully since I am reading this quickly while at work I may have missed something .
If not it looks as I only have 4 hrs remaining to at least DL the final upgraded zip.
any chance of extending the 24 hr period by a few hours? If not I am sure a teammate will have it but I always prefer getting the new in box version of things when possible.

I've tried to download a few season packs to my harddrive but can't seem to do that since the update to version 2.0.01. Is it possible to fix? Or is it just a side effect?

I'm about to have a look. I needed to make the fix for RD quickly, so things have been overlooked like this.
Maybe I can fix it in time, maybe not.
There will be another version
2.0.02added to the tikipeter.gtithub.io/packages source to fix a couple of these niggling issues (pack downloads etc). Once you see that version in the packages, you can install it from zip and it will update Fen Light.You will not be able to update through Fen Light as you did in the past, as that was disabled.
Does this mean that it won’t be available to be forked or downloaded from after 24hours?

Don't go, you know the IPTV thing is mainly to do with money. You are a much easier target to go after if they wanted to go after you than RD. He was making 32 million euros or something , of course they had a target on his head. Even if they wanted to go after you they would give you a warning first or even get github to take you down.
Even before they go after you they would go after Stremio. You'll have plenty of warning to get out the way.
I liked trying to improve Fen Lite. I can't go back to the sub reddit without you. Even though you've sent the code so it can't update, you can do what you did before.
Can you just take some time off and think about it? Just don't make it final, see what happens in the scene. You didn't even make a penny from this. they could have tried going after you so long ago!!!!!!

I wanted to use DMM and make a hashlist, then each anime I was going to make sure Fen Lite could match it's weird naming scheme, the pattern list I was going to make sure it's the minimum added so they are flexible.
It would have been amazing and I intended to create a trakt list of this. then maybe add it in a section in Fen Lite.
I only watch one anime a week. I'm not in Kodi to watch stuff, just to tinker and see my work come to life. You've been the inspiration to this. Just as I was abut to realise my potential you leave and worst of all leave because of the post I made.

relies on it. and uses it to get the imdb list from sites like bestsimilar, the "more like this" was such a good addition that we could have used this list in Fen Lite, It's a single API call after you scrape the bestsimilar site, You could have even just add the updated list on each new update so we never even need to make a call to the cinemata site, so it's literally scraping sites like best similar then using the list we have installed in fen lite to match it. if it finds it then you can do what you did with IMDB site and make calls to TMDB.
I had so many ideas I wanted to ask you but had so many already listed. I really enjoyed working on this. No other developer gave me inspiration or wanted to work on it. You inspire others. You even got the other dev to come back and forming a good relationship with Umbrella.
They will just get rid of your github. and Kodi is the last on target before stremio. The raids on kodi people have been done long before RD thing.

PETER DON'T GO! please just think about it. I wanted to go after the new year ended but couldn't even wake up today and face the world since I can't work on anything. You don't even have to work on Fen Lite as much or just lay back for a little while to look at what is happening. Just close the issues. You've been like a father figure in all this and I've come to you for advice. I even tried hard to get you 3 devs working together. The community at the subreddit was going well. I was the one who got in contact with penguin in elfhosted then messaged kodifitswell to get in contact with penguin to get zilean open.
KODI is dead without you, at least for me. I could have even one day learnt enough to add something of value. You still have to help create a way so widgets work better!
please think about it. Before you are at risk you'll have enough warning. and the world cares about those that are making money from this. They don't go after small fish that don't even take an affiliated link! RD is a multi million dollar empire, that raid was for 32 million euros. YOU MAKE NOTHING

Kodi isn't the one who got RD, it was Stremio, it's still stremio now. People are even moving away from Kodi for stremio , they know this. stremio will one day have enough that kodi would be less useful , I don't care, kodi will have a loyal fan base that understand what it adds. we can have our little group. They will go after stremio before they ever try on Kodi.
Stremio Dev tried copying Kodi, they have a main stremio and then they have a addons4stremio, but the lead dev himself is on both, he added mdblist

this is the lead developer of stremio that has openly making it obvious that they are linking to addons, this is stremio that is on tiktok not the overly complicated and hard to use Kodi. who do you think they will take down first? if they ever tried to?
Over their they are jubilant about this they are having fun , if anything they are more of a target. you've already seen how many users on Kodi say they have started to like stremio better, good for them. I like Kodi and I like the community and the flexibility. can you stay Peter? you are just tired and got spooked. even the issues you been getting slowed down because Fen Lite is working so well. it would be calmer and I don't rely on you as much to work on features. I have my own ideas. Now I know how powerful it is I can really start to learn Python and the links you provided about how to get started on addons.
Stremio will go down first if what you think will come to fruition, you then back down. they have no reason to bother with kodi developers right now. I've always said kodi long term won't be taking in the grandmas and the laymen. it's more for technically minded and so it will never do what stremio has done. You don't create something like Fen Lite if you are not logical, i'm a logical person to. even reading what I said you think I'm not proving by facts? 7 years ago they raided XBMC people who made money on this. You are not worth anyones time to prosecute. the raid must have cost millions to work out and implement. they don't spend millions so they can go after a guy with a family that hasn't done anything illegal and likes to work on his code. they will give you a desist warning first. they did that with RD. RD knew what it was doing and carried on and then when told to stop have implemented enough so they leave them alone.
