Description:

When checking for updates in the app (Settings > App Updates), the following issues are observed:

Current Behavior:

  • Version: Displays "Unknown" instead of the actual version number (e.g., 1.1.1).
  • Current Version: Shows a long commit hash (e.g., "ddc484...") instead of the user-friendly version number.
  • Release Notes: The notes shown in the app do not match the official release notes on the GitHub release page.

Expected Behavior:

  • Version: Should display the current version number (e.g., 1.1.1).
  • Current Version: Should show the version number, not a commit hash.
  • Release Notes: Should match the official release notes from the GitHub release page.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open the app and go to Settings > App Updates.
  2. Click "Check for Updates".
  3. Observe the displayed version, current version, and release notes.

Additional Context:

  • The app is up-to-date (1.1.1 as per GitHub releases).
  • The GitHub release page shows detailed and accurate release notes, but the app does not reflect this information.

Why This Matters:

  • Users rely on this information to understand what has been updated and to verify their app version.
  • Displaying a commit hash and "Unknown" version is confusing and not user-friendly.
